How to Anonymize Video Offline in Your Browser
Anonymize a video offline with Unseen after preparing the browser engine. Follow the disconnect-before-import sequence and troubleshoot common failures.
On this page
You can anonymize video offline in Unseen after loading its local engine. Open the site while connected, choose Local processing, prepare the engine, then disconnect before selecting the video.
This is useful when the file should not be exposed to a live connection or when you expect unreliable internet during the actual work. It is a prepared browser workflow, not a promise that a completely fresh browser can start without downloading anything.
Prepare with a harmless clip first
Use a short test recording that has no sensitive content. On the import screen:
- Select Local processing.
- Click Prepare for offline use if the engine is not already preparing.
- Wait until the page reports that the local engine is ready.
- Turn off network access.
- Choose the test file and run a complete export.
Test the whole sequence, including the download. Getting as far as the preview is not enough if you plan to rely on the workflow later.
Process the real file in the prepared tab
Keep that tab open. Import the working copy of your video, choose Blur, Pixelate, Black bar, or Emoji, and decide between Blur all and Select faces.
Face swap is unavailable locally because it uses the cloud service. If that method is selected or the page is asking for cloud credits, revisit your mode choice.
Local detection offers Thorough as the recommended starting point and Maximum for difficult motion or brief appearances. Higher detection effort can increase processing time.
When finished, use Export video and open the downloaded file without reconnecting.
Why offline preparation can fail
The browser needs to support the app's engine preparation, including service-worker functionality. A restricted browser profile or blocked storage can interfere. Clearing site data can remove prepared assets.
If preparation reports an error, reconnect and use Retry. Complete the harmless test before importing sensitive material. Do not assume that having visited the home page once means every required asset is available.
Reloading or closing the prepared tab can also change what is available, so avoid it during a job.
Where the file goes afterward
The export uses your normal browser download process. Check whether the destination folder is automatically synchronized when the computer reconnects.
If offline use is part of a sensitive project, also consider source copies, backups, and who can access the device. Those choices remain yours; disconnecting a browser does not reorganize the rest of the computer.
For a shorter preparation checklist, see Prepare Unseen for offline use. The no-upload explainer covers why this differs from uploading a file and deleting it later.
Try it on a short clip
Start with a difficult moment from your video, then inspect the exported result.
