How Churches and Community Groups Can Protect Attendees on Video

Share church and community recordings with clear attendee choices. Review audience cutaways, children, prayer or support segments, and livestream replays.

For a church or community recording, distinguish the people presenting from the people attending. Someone may welcome a filmed speech but not want their attendance, child, or personal conversation published.

Plan the camera position and replay before the event, then use face treatment for incidental appearances in the saved video.

Point the camera at the program

A stable shot of the speaker, stage, or demonstration may be enough. Audience close-ups can add atmosphere, but they also expose people who came to participate rather than appear on camera.

Explain the recording arrangement through the organization's normal process and provide practical options where possible. Avoid treating a sign at the entrance as a universal answer to every sensitive situation.

Keep support sessions and other restricted activities out of routine promotional footage.

Review the replay, not just the live plan

A livestream can contain pre-event conversation, a camera swung toward the room, or a personal contribution that was not expected.

Unseen processes a saved recording. It does not provide protection during the live broadcast. Decide how the original replay is handled while you prepare an edited version.

Trim the public cut in the usual editor first.

Keep speakers visible and treat the audience

Use Select faces in Unseen when an approved presenter stays visible and attendees behind them need hiding. Set the relevant entries Hide and the presenter Keep.

For a crowd cutaway where no person needs to be clear, Blur all is easier. Check children, late arrivals, and people turning toward the camera.

If detection misses a brief appearance, shorten the shot, retry local processing with a more thorough preset, or draw the missing box in Review & fix faces.

Listen to what the room reveals

A prayer request, introduction, or testimony can disclose sensitive information even with faces covered. Decide which passages belong in the public version.

Do not assume face treatment makes a personal account suitable for a broad audience. Ask the responsible organizer to resolve the sharing decision and use the editor to implement it.

Captions and descriptive text need the same attention.

Give volunteers one approved file

Volunteers may post from their own devices or reuse clips for a newsletter. Keep the public-ready export easy to identify and separate from originals.

Make the cover from the reviewed file. If someone asks for a different excerpt, review that cut too rather than sending the whole source recording.

For saved broadcasts, the VOD guide covers changing layouts and replay handling in more detail.

Try it on a short clip

Start with a difficult moment from your video, then inspect the exported result.
